Kappa Province Council Meetings — Promoting Safe Infant Sleep Practices
Meetings at the East Central Province Council in Warren, Ohio; Southeastern Province Council in Charleston, South Carolina; Southern Province Council in Mobile, Alabama; Northern Province Council in Toledo, Ohio; and the Southwestern Province Council meeting in Dallas, Texas. This year, the Global Infant Safe Sleep (GISS) Center team, along with Kappa’s First Lady and Silhouette, Mrs. Geraldine Battles, travelled around the country to the various Kappa Province Councils to promote the Kappa Safe Infant Sleep Community Engagement Project Mini-Grants sponsored Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Special thanks to the Kappa Province Councils for your support! We greatly appreciate your best wishes along the way. As part of our partnership with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, we hope to reach more Province Councils in 2019, as we continue our efforts to reduce infant mortality in our communities.
Deadline for mini-grant application May 14
With the help of the GISS Center, the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is offering funds to support the Kappa Safe Infant Sleep Community Engagement Project Mini-Grants. The deadline for applications — May 14 — is fast approaching. Don’t miss out on these $1,000 grants, per eligible chapter, designed to sponsor educational outreach projects and events in your community to help reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related causes of infant death, such as accidental suffocation.
The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- Graduate and Undergraduate Chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated
- Active Silhouettes Chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity
- Province Councils (Kappa/Silhouettes)
