Improving Safe Sleep Conversations: Strategies for Helping Families Adopt Safe Sleep Habits
Stacy Scott, Ph.D., MPA, founder of the Global Infant Safe Sleep Center, conducted a series of roleplaying exercises where she demonstrated tactics to engage families from different backgrounds in meaningful conversations about safe sleep. She was joined by GISS Center consultants and partners: Mark McBee, National Registered Emergency Medical Technician/Firefighter; Martin Maize, Brother’s United Member and Safe Sleep Advocate; and Tony Hill, Executive Director, Northeast Mississippi Birthing Project. These actionable skills benefit all health professionals, human service providers, community health workers, home visitors, peer supporters and family members working to improve infant health outcomes.
