Avery Desrosiers, MPH
Avery Desrosiers is a public health practitioner who approaches her work with a racial and reproductive justice lens to build more equitable systems for children and families. She brings experience working with diverse stakeholders on various quality improvement and policy initiatives spanning reproductive and perinatal health, maternal and infant mortality, breastfeeding supports, and children’s oral health. She is passionate about amplifying community voices and shifting power within systems to inform and secure high-quality and dignified care.
Currently, Avery is the Senior Manager of Content & Community for the Early Childhood Connector at the Ounce of Prevention Fund. In this role, she works alongside members of a growing online community to build a space where all expertise is valued and elevated to inform and prioritize improvements for children and families in the communities where they live, play and grow. Desrosiers is proud to serve as Co-Chair for the New Hire & Staff sub-committee of the Advancing Racial Justice Task force where she is working alongside other taskforce members to inform diversity and inclusion improvements for staff recruiting, hiring, and the new hire experience overall.
Outside of her role at the Ounce of Prevention, Avery is a consultant with the Global Infant Safe Sleep Center. Through the GISS Center, Avery facilitates training and workshops to build capacity among peers and fellow practitioners to advance equity within their work. She is dedicated to supporting individuals in exposing both personal prejudice and structural forms of racism to address white supremacy culture. Her expertise in collective impact and community capacity-building helps to establish supportive yet accountable environments that prime stakeholders for action.
Desrosiers graduated with her Masters degree in Maternal & Child Health from Boston University School of Public Health. She is passionate about reproductive and racial justice and she leads a growing local-level action team that is advocating for expanded access and protections for reproductive health and rights in Massachusetts.
