Canton Comes Out Strong In Support of the Community of Committed Men forum

We were in Canton, Ohio on Saturday, March 10, 2018 for A Community of Committed Men forum, sponsored by the Global Infant Safe Sleep Center, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and Baby 1st Network. We want thank Rev. Michael Pressley and The ZION Ministers for hosting us at the Coleman Community Center, where more than 60 participants attended on a Saturday morning. We were joined by Shawn Crable of the Early Childhood Resource Center in Canton who spoke on the services offered through his center.

Dr. Stacy Scott and our team from the GISS Center presented solutions on how our men can have an impact on saving babies lives, reducing infant morality and improving low birth weight and prematurity.

The Canton community came out strong to support this initiative. In 2016, Stark County’s infant death rate for African American babies was 15.6 per 1,000 live births and 6.5 for white babies.
