Dr. Stacy Scott featured speaker at NYC Infant Safe Sleep Summit at Harlem’s Schomberg Center

The GISS Center team attended the 2018 NYC Infant Safe Sleep Summit at theĀ Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture | The New York Public Library in New York in June. GISS Center’s Dr. Stacy Scott as the featured speaker spoke about implicit bias and improving infant safe sleep conversations.

This informative half-day event was focused on strengthening collaboration, sharing ideas, and expanding support to help NYC parents and caregivers understand and adopt safe sleep practices for infants in their care.

NYC has achieved a significant reduction in reported sleep-related injury deaths since Mayor de Blasio launched the NYC Safe Sleep Initiative in 2015. The 2018 NYC Infant Safe Sleep Summit helped build on these positive results by convening diverse citywide stakeholders dedicated to ensuring that families and caregivers in every borough have the knowledge and resources they need to keep infants happy, healthy, and safe.
